The Newsletter, it is a-Changing

Hey folks! I'm sorry for missing my post last week. I came down with a persistent and annoying cold that threw me off.

And today's post is going to be a big swerve too.

I've decided to radically switch up the content of this e-newsletter. I think, to an extent, I've been trying to mash together two ill-fitting Lego pieces. The personal, geeky stuff doesn't quite jive with the more angry, political parts.

Instead, The Lagrange Point (yes, I'm keeping the name; I know it's a bit obtuse but I like it) will go all-in on newsie content. Here's what's going to be swapped in:

  • News You Can Use - brief summaries of noteworthy articles from around the internet. I'm going to curate pieces based on how informative they are, especially if they are investigative, as well as how "actionable" they are. I don't expect people to see news and jump into activism, but I think it's important to see news that affects you, that figures into the larger picture of our lives on a global scale, and that can be something you affect, in turn.
  • Rantables - this is staying! Mostly unchanged, but I'll be trying to keep the content to things I can.
  • And Lastly, A Word - I know this fell by the wayside. It might come back a little bit. I think what could go in here is some kind of writing on an issue that doesn't get a lot of coverage, and be summed up in a relatively short piece of 500 words or less. I think explainers on certain science news could suit this!

So, what happens to the geeky stuff?

Well, I was finding that I was often reaching pretty hard to fill up highlights from Canada creators, depending on the time of the year, on a weekly basis. It might work better on a monthly basis. Same for my miniature painting. While I like that it got me into the habit of painting minis on a much more regular basis, it was a bit of a time crunch to get things done.

That means I might want to start a monthly e-newsletter for JUST geeky stuff. No ranting, no politics. Just fun!

What does this mean for you, my loyal subscribers?

Well, you'll remain on The Lagrange Point list. If you find the change in direction doesn't suit you, no hard feelings. But I'm hoping you'll stick around. As for the potential new monthly newsletter (which is a bit in doubt, since I have to see if my workload allows for it), I'll let you know if and when it starts. It could kick off in the New Year! But for now...

I'll see you at The Lagrange Point.

...L5? L5 is good.
